Benny Burger chain Shannon Bennett goes into liquidation Melbourne news

The “ethical burger” brainchild of celebrity chef Shannon Bennett has gone into liquidation as the chain’s parent company decides to “shift priorities”.

Benny Burger, which operated stores on Swan Street in Richmond and Little Collins Street in melbourne‘s CBD, will now close effective immediately.

Vue Group, who owns Benny Burger and a number of Bennett restaurants including the famed Vue de Monde, told 9news.com.au in a statement that Benny Burger no longer fits in the group’s commercial strategy.

“Vue Group has made the commercial decision to exit the Benny Burger brand due to a shift in priorities,” said a spokesperson for the group.

“Vue Group remains focused on providing aspirational guest experiences through its diverse portfolio of venues and is confident the aforementioned change will deliver a stronger platform for growth in the future.

Named after Bennett’s father, the Benny Burger chain first opened at Sydney International Airport where it sold burgers made entirely with local or organic ingredients.
