Alpha Building Group collapses as Melbourne builder goes into liquidation

A major construction company that built houses across melbourne/index.html” id=”mol-4070ed80-ba40-11ee-bdea-9394c1757f7f”>Melbourne has collapsed, owing up to $3.5million.

Alpha Building Group Pty Ltd fell into liquidation last Thursday, with all staff sacked and ten clients now left with unfinished homes.

The company is now in the hands of liquidator Brent Morgan of insolvency firm Rogers Reidy, who said 100 creditors are owed a total of $3.5million.

Mr Morgan said the company’s downfall was due to rising costs of labour and materials, government taxes and a lack of profitability, news.com.au reported.

The business had seven staff members in June last year but went under with just one employee, with relatives of the owner also lending a hand. 

The company’s website no longer exists while the phone number goes straight to voicemail telling callers it is ‘closed for the holiday period’.
